Prince George RCMP caught a driver going 109 km/h on Ospika Boulevard – 59 km/h faster than the posted speed limit – during a speed enforcement campaign on April 26.
The driver was issued a $368 violation ticket and their vehicle was impounded for seven days, according to information released by the RCMP on Wednesday. RCMP cracked down on speeders during the mid-week lunch rush.
“In the two hours that police officers were conducting their speed watch, they issued 21 violation tickets to drivers going 25 km/h or more over the posted speed limit of 50 km/h,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said. “Our message to drivers is that the roadway is a shared space and we need to make sure we’re keeping the safety of everyone in mind. One way to do this is to make sure you’re staying within the posted speed limit.”
