Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a Hart-area home damaged in what is believed to have been a targeted act.

At about 9:45 p.m. Friday, Prince George RCMP received a report of a shots fired incident in the Birchwood Drive area but were unable to find anything unusual.

But by the following afternoon, they found a home on Hazel Drive, which is west of Birchwood, with damage suspected to have come from a firearm and Prince George RCMP's serious crime unit was called in to investigate with assistance from the forensic identification section.

And just before 3 p.m., police received a report of an abandoned vehicle near a 5000 block Highway 97 business in the northern part of the city. A computer check subsequently determined it had been stolen and investigators believe it was involved in the shooting.
