The ongoing gun amnesty has drawn a response.

Two weeks into the 30-day campaign, a dozen residents have contacted police to get unwanted firearms and weapons removed from their homes, Prince George RCMP said Friday.

Over those calls, 15 long guns and three hand guns have been relinquished, as were ammunition, magazines, holsters, a pellet gun, pellets and CO2 cartridges.

The amnesty continues to June 30. To surrender unwanted firearms call 250-561-3300 and ask for an officer to come to your residence to pick them up.

"Please do not bring them to the detachment," Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said.
