Embracing the winter city atmosphere, especially after the snow fall that Prince George has recently seen, residents can make their way to the Downtown Winterfest, which hits the corner of Sixth Avenue and George Street on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
With opening ceremonies starting with Mayor Lyn Hall taking to the Ice Throne, the fun will start with road hockey shinny with players from the Spruce Kings and Cariboo Cougars. Don't forget to bring your hockey stick to get in on the fun.
There will be fat bike demonstrations, people are encouraged to slip down the snow slide, check out the ice carvers in action and take a ride on the Cottonwood Express minirail.
There's winter art activities for those who would like to explore their creative side, a chance to try some snow-ga - snow yoga - and some mini golf. There's a tasty dessert to check out during the 'there is SMORE Downtown' contest that sees a variety of businesses and individuals testing their culinary skills to see who's got the best campfire treat. It's a friendly competition and all proceeds go to a number of local charitable organizations. There's winter markets to explore and an outdoor winter food court.
Winterfest is presented by Downtown Prince George to showcase the core of the city as vibrant, safe and a destination location.
