Downtown group picks new president

Downtown Prince George has named a new executive following the election of a new board of directors at its recent annual general meeting.

Downtown Prince George has named a new executive following the election of a new board of directors at its recent annual general meeting.

Carla Johnston, communication manager for the BID Group of Companies, is president; while Prince George Citizen publisher Hugh Nicholson was named as vice-president.

The treasurer is Kate Roxburgh, owner of the Topaz Bead Gallery, and Pace Realty owner Betty Bryce is secretary.

"Without question, our success in the coming year will lie in our ability to continue the momentum of the excellent work done by our current volunteers and the previous volunteer board," said Johnston.

"What I am most excited about is our opportunity to take the communication efforts of the association to the next level. Having a new website already in place will help to make that happen quickly," she said.

Nicholson added that the board has a great cross section of representatives, including property owners, business owners, retailers, professionals and someone who lives downtown.

"We are eager to get on with the business of the association and ensure our funding continues to be allocated to programs that will improve business for all types of members," he said.

Downtown Prince George is a business improvement area association formed in May of 1999 by a group of downtown property owners and business people to enhance the business climate of downtown Prince George.
