Rolling Mix Concrete Arena will once again be called the Prince George Coliseum, following the end of a naming right agreement.

Rolling Mix Concrete bought the naming rights in 2016, as part of a three-way deal with the Prince George Spruce Kings and City of Prince George. The terms of the contract ended on Dec. 31, 2020.

“The City of Prince George extends its sincere thanks to Rolling Mix Concrete for its sponsorship and community partnership,” city director of recreation and events Andy Beesley said in a statement issued on Tuesday. “We are also very appreciative and supportive of the Spruce Kings, which is why we held off on officially changing the name of the facility until after the playoffs to avoid any confusion.”

Under the five-year deal, Rolling Mix Concrete provided $10,000 per year in cash and $15,000 to $20,000 per year in concrete to support construction of the annual Spruce Kings Show Home Lottery house.

City staff are in the process of changing all the signage on site at the Coliseum to reflect the name change. The arena, built in 1958, was known as the Prince George Coliseum for most of its operational life.

Several reports to city council by city administration have suggested the aging arena is nearing the end of its useful life.
