The Prince George Airport Authority is warning locals that it is holding its recurrent fire training place this week.

On Saturday May 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to Friday May 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) will be conducting aviation related structural fires in the fire training area located on airport as part of ongoing recurrent fire training and certification, according to a news release.

"The fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area, which has in the past caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to your agencies," states the release.

The release adds fires are held in self contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and pose no threat to the public or surrounding areas.
