The Dixie Chicks are flying high on their first Canadian tour in seven years, and they've decided to hit the Peace Region along the way.
The famous country band is set to play at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek on Oct. 29.
Originally formed in the late 80s in Texas, the band have gone on to win 13 Grammy awards, and have sold over 30 million albums.
The band also gained notoriety for their criticism of George Bush in 2003 for the Iraq war.
Dawson Creek is the smallest city that the band will play on their tour, which will see them hit Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Hamilton, among their nine Canadian stops.
"I think it's another great event," said Ryan MacIvor, the GM for the Encana Events Centre. "They're one of those quintessential country bands ... to have them come to Dawson Creek is a great opportunity. We're the only small or secondary market that they're playing."
"We had such a great time playing for our Canadian fans this summer that we've been inspired to come back for more," the band said on their website.
One of the Dixie Chicks, Emily Robison, was quoted as saying that she blamed logistics and the band's growing families as part of the reason why they did not perform together more often for the past seven years or so.
Local officials took to the social media airwaves to show their excitement for the concert, including South Peace MLA Mike Bernier.
"Once again, Dawson Creek is playing with the big boys," he wrote.
