A month-long celebration of diversity is about to begin at the Two Rivers Gallery.

The event starts Friday, March 30, with a story telling and image making workshop led by by artist Aiden Callison and Cat Sivertsen of Welcome PG. It runs from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

"The workshop will focus on communicating what diversity is for Canadians, either established or new, through storytelling and image making using words, photography and art materials," Sivertsen said.

"I'm not sure what the final outcome will look like and this is the exciting part about gathering people together to make art and talk."

The finished artworks will become part of the "celebrating diversity" exhibition which opens at the Gallery on Thursday, April 5.

Those works will be be combined with story-telling and visual artwork done by eight new Canadians focussed on immigrants' success stories.

"Part of the project was to bring the story tellers together to make artwork," Sivertsen said. "With most of them having no experience with paint, it soon became evident that sharing this new art making experience was an excellent way to bridge any gaps, if there were any, and to get to know each other more."

A month of free admission family Sundays is also in store, where families drop in to make a different art project every Sunday. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
