The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George issued less than half the building permits in the first quarter of 2021 than it did in 2020.
From January to March, the regional district issued a total of 26 permits, with a combined value of $3.29 million, according to a report going before the district board on Thursday. In the same period in 2020, the district had issued 65 permits with the value estimated at $7.14 million.
In March, the district issued seven permits worth a combined $709,000, compared to 26 issued in March 2020, worth a combined $2.4 million.
The biggest decline was in new single-family homes. The district has only issued permits for two this year, to date, compared to 11 new builds and four additions in the first quarter of 2020.
