District seeking suite input

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is looking for feedback about a zoning bylaw change regulating secondary suites in the rural areas. The proposed legislation would allow secondary suites on parcels of land 0.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is looking for feedback about a zoning bylaw change regulating secondary suites in the rural areas.

The proposed legislation would allow secondary suites on parcels of land 0.8 hectares or larger, excluding seasonal recreation properties.

The regional district is also interested in feedback on whether secondary suites should be allowed on lakeshore parcels.

Secondary suites are apartments within single-family homes no larger than 90 square metres and 40 per cent of the total finished living area.

To collect input, the regional district is holding a series of open houses on the following dates:

Sept. 29 at Pineview Community Hall, 7-8:30 p.m.

Sept. 30 at Beaverly Fire/Rescue Hall, 7-8:30 p.m.

Oct. 6 at East Line Activity Centre, 7-8:30 p.m.

Oct. 6 at Summit Lake Community Hall, 7-8:30 p.m.

Oct. 7 at Canoe Valley Recreation Centre (Valemount), 7-8:30 p.m.

Oct. 7 at Ness Lake Community Hall, 7-8:30 p.m.

Oct. 8 at Robson Valley Recreation Centre, 7-8:30 p.m.

Oct. 13 at Regional District of Fraser-Fort George board room, 7-8:30 p.m.

Residents can also complete a confidential online survey on the regional district's website, rdffg.bc.ca, until Oct. 16.
