Prince George and Regional District of Fraser-Fort George residents who were impacted by flooding can apply for support through the B.C. Disaster Financial Assistance program, the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General announced on Friday.
Homeowners, tenants, small business owners, farmers, charitable groups and local governments who were impacted by flooding between June 14 and July 13 are eligible to apply for assistance to cover uninsured damages or losses. Eligibility also applies of any of the smaller communities or First Nations within the regional district's boundaries.
Residents in the Cariboo Regional, Peace River Regional District and Northern Rockies Regional District, or any of the First Nations or municipalities within their borders, are also eligible to apply.
Financial assistance for eligible claims will 80 per cent of total cost of damages above $1,000, to a maximum claim of $300,000. Seasonal and recreational properties are not eligible for assistance, nor are recreational or luxury items like hot tubs and jewelry.
Application forms can be found online at www.gov.bc.ca/disasterfinancialassistance, and must be filed by Oct. 16.
