BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation will honour more than 30 police officers of the Northern Region of B.C. during a ceremony in Prince George.

The 31 officers will be installed as members of Alexa's Team 2009 which was established in remembrance of four-year-old Alexa Middelaer who was killed when run down by a vehicle driven by an individual now charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and death, and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and death.

Members of Alexa's Team are recognized for diligent efforts to remove impaired drivers from the roads.

The ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Ron Brent elementary school, 1401 17th Ave.

Last year there were 26 officers from Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley honoured, and this year Vancouver Island, Prince George and Kelowna regions have been added for a total of 174 members.
