A spill of diesel has been cleaned up after a tractor trailer went off Highway 16 west of McBride over the weekend.
B.C. environment ministry spokesperson David Karn said most of the contents of a saddle tank, which holds up to 500 litres, was lost and an environmental contractor and a hydrovac truck were called in on Sunday to deal with the spill.
He said a majority of contaminated snow was removed as was a minor amount of product that had entered a catch basin, which drained to a ditch below the highway.
The spill occurred about 300 metres west of Ptarmigan Creek but was cleaned up before it posed a threat to waterways.
A stretch of the highway had been reduced to single-lane alternating for much of the weekend due to the accident.
