Trent Derrick was elected the new chairperson of the School District 57 board of education on Tuesday night.
Derrick, who previously served as the board's vice-chairperson, was elected by the board on Tuesday night. Previous board chair Tim Bennett decided to step down prior to the annual inaugural meeting.
"I hope over the last year I have represented myself well, and the board well," Derrick said.
Shuirose Valimohamed, the trustee representing Mackenzie, was named vice-chair.
