Natural causes are believe to be behind the death of a 40-year-old man at the Westgate Walmart on Friday morning.
Prince George RCMP spokesman Gary Godwin and Prince George coroner Shane de Meyer went some way to dismiss concern the man, whose name was not released by authorities, had slipped on something either in or near the men's washroom and suffered a head injury.
"It appears that he fell as a result of a medical condition," Godwin said. "He was extremely heavy set."
It appeared the man had just sat down on one of the powered scooters available to customers near the entrance to the store when he died, Godwin also noted, and added there was no mark on the man's head.
Regional coroner Shayne de Meyer had much the same comment.
"Preliminary is that is very like a natural death, we will be investigating, however, to follow that up," de Meyer said and added an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause.
Walmart manager Don Sumanik declined to comment.
