Another Chinese company's entry into the Alberta oil sands is putting Enbridge's proposed $4.5-billion pipeline, which would pass just north of Prince George, in the spotlight.

State-owned Chinese-giant Sinopec has struck a $4.65-billion deal to buy ConocoPhillips' nine per cent stake in Syncrude's oil facility near Fort McMurray, Alta. It would give Sinopec a one-seventh share of the facility's output, but there is currently very little access to overseas markets via a pipeline to Vancouver.
