After initial nondisclosure, it has been announced publicly that the deceased man found in a wooded area near a Prince George street was 29-year-old Christopher Michael Leblond.

"Identification was established through a comparison of fingerprints," said coroner Barb McLintock. "Mr. Leblond is believed to have died about six weeks ago. Investigation into the cause of Mr. Leblond's death continues, but foul play has been ruled out. All evidence suggests no one was with him in the bushy area where he was found."

Leblond was listed by the BC Coroners' Service and the RCMP as a Prince George resident. He also has ties to Nanaimo. It was there in April, 2011 that he committed theft under $5,000 and then in August failed to appear as directed in Nanaimo court to answer for that charge.

The case was transferred to Prince George where, in January, he was sentenced to six months on probation for the two offenses.

Despite it being six weeks he is estimated to have been dead in a wooded meadow not far west of Foothills Boulevard near the intersection of 5th Avenue, there was no record of Prince George media being notified during that time that Leblond had disappeared from probationary supervision.
