DBIA wants tax incentives for revitalization

The Downtown Business Improvement Association members took their time reviewing a development incentive report, but they have now come out swinging at it.

The report, commissioned by city council, was written by Neilson-Welch/Leftside Partners. It urged council to steer clear of implementing long-term tax abatements as a tool to stimulate downtown development.

The report took heavy fire from developers almost immediately; it took heavy fire from the council table the night it was unveiled. Now the DBIA has added its collective voice after more than six weeks of deliberation.
