The Downtown Business Improvement Association has a new executive director.
Carla Johnston will take over the role on Nov. 6, bringing over 18 years of communications, marketing and business administration to the position.
We are very excited to have Carla taking the reins of our association in the newly formed role of executive director, said DBIA president Rod Holmes.
In addition to her excellent credentials for communications and business development, she has demonstrated a clear passion for the organization while serving as a volunteer on our board for the last two and half years.
Born and raised in Prince George, Johnston returned to her hometown in 2010 to accept a position with the BID Group of Companies, one of North America's largest manufacturers of sawmill equipment.
Before returning to Prince George she was communications manager for Houle Electric in Burnaby and had also spent 10 years in Vancouver's high-tech sector designing and implementing communications programs for technology start-ups and turnarounds.
Johnston has a communications degree from Simon Fraser University and a marketing communications diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
She takes over from Linda Self, who held the position for four-and-a-half years.
