A damaged natural gas service line prompted the evacuation of the Prince George Public Library on Tuesday morning.
The gas line was damaged on the construction site of the Marriott Courtyard Hotel next to the library's Bob Harkins branch.
"FortisBC crews are on site at the Marriot Hotel in Prince George making repairs to a damaged natural gas service line caused by a third party. The service line hit was providing natural gas service to the Prince George Public Library," a FortisBC spokesperson said in an email on Tuesday. "Gas was brought under control at 12:34 p.m. and repairs are underway - we estimate that the repairs will be completed within one hour, so by 2:30 p.m. if not sooner."
Emergency crews were on scene on Tuesday, keeping people away from the area.
