CWE Wrestling says 'business as usual' in hosting third Prince George show amid COVID-19

Organizers say a plan is in place if the group is told otherwise

In just over a month, the nation’s greatest wrestlers are still scheduled to host a third show in Prince George in the last year.

Canadian Wrestling Elite (CWE) has drawn hundreds of fans from its previous two shows in B.C.’s northern capital and despite the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to spread, the entertainment group says it plans to return for its 11th-anniversary tour stop on May 9.

B.C. has put in a ban on gatherings of 50 people or more in creating physical distancing and of the 1,121 positive cases in the province as of this publication, 17 of them are in Northern Health with at least five known recoveries.

CWE spokesperson Danny Warren tells PrinceGeorgeMatters that timing has become a factor and business is running as usual, but not without a back-up plan.

“However, if government regulations and recommendations are to change or affect the ability to produce the event per those guidelines, the card is subject to be postponed to a future date where all tickets will be honoured or refunded per request at the point of purchase,” Warren explains.

“Prince George, British Columbia has become one of the hottest wrestling cities in ALL of Canada and we are returning the favour with one of the HOTTEST cards on the 11th Anniversary Tour on Saturday, May 9!”

Since CWE’s first-ever Prince George stop in April 2019, the group has raised close to $2,500 for local navy cadets in addition to showcasing legendary body-slammers and cage-rattlers.

After bringing in the Lucha Libre likes of Juventud “The Juice” Guerrera and Psicosis, the 11th-anniversary tour was announced in December and includes five-time World Champion and former WWF competitor Shane Douglas, ‘The Franchise.’

According to the bill, Douglas is set to compete in a tag team match with Prince George’s own Stuart Brown, also known as ‘The Mauler.’

If all goes as planned and the show takes place at the Connaught Youth Centre next month, the featured matches include:

  • Tag Team Attraction Match
    • ECW Icon "The Franchise" Shane Douglas and "Mr. Beefy Goodness" Vance Nevada
      • vs.
