Professional development for teachers is the reason classes are not in session next Friday for School District 57 students.
They’re free to do whatever activities are allowed during the pandemic.
Some of those kids are in for a world of fun when the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, OVERhang Outdoor Vertical Education and Recreation and Northern Ice Sports team up for a ProD Day camp. They will gather at PGGCC for a day of rock climbing, curling, hockey and snowshoeing.
The camp, for students aged 9-13 has four options available for the groups , which will each have a maximum of 12 registered.
The first option is for kids aged 8-12 and includes climbing, curling, indoor games, outdoor adventures and campfire lunch and snacks. No previous experience is required. The cost is $75 plus GST.
The other three sessions include hockey development with former Calgary Flame Ryan Howse , head coach of the Cariboo Cougars Under-16 team and he will conduct the training sessions on the 125-foot long, 55 foot wide rink Northern Ice Sports built this fall at PGGCC. All participants must already be hockey players and they must have their own equipment. Lunch and snacks will be served
The U-11 hockey development camp includes two on-ice hockey sessions as well as curling, climbing and indoor games. Cost is $95 each plus GST.
The U-13 development camp includes two hockey sessions with Howse and other hockey professionals, as well as climbing and outdoor adventures. Cost is $95.
The U-13 elite camp is for hockey players on U-11 Tier 1 teams or U-13 house or rep team players. Snowshoeing and curling sessions are includes. Cost is $125 plus GST.
