Cullen visits Prince George tonight

Lois Boone has declared her support of Nathan Cullen in the federal NDP leadership race.

Lois Boone has declared her support of Nathan Cullen in the federal NDP leadership race.

The former BC NDP deputy premier and longtime local activist will host a free public meet and greet with the leadership hopeful tonight at Nancy O's restaurant (1261 3rd Avenue) from 7 to 9 p.m.

"As a fellow northerner and British Columbian, I am proud to support Nathan," said Boone in a media release Jan. 1. "He lives rural, northern and resource economy issues every day as a Member of Parliament for our neighboring federal riding, where he's been an amazing voice for his constituents and all of British

Columbia."

Cullen has represented the 300,000-kilometre riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley since 2004, having won the riding in four elections. He is one of eight candidates, and the only westerner, in the race to succeed the late Jack Layton as leader of the federal New Democratic Party. At the public meeting tonight Cullen is slated to share his vision for cooperative leadership and electoral reform that builds alliances and makes politics more

relevant to Canadians, said a press release.
