A couple of quick thinking Prince George RCMP officers were able to reunite a black bear cub with its mother and siblings after coming across the animal trapped in the enclosed porch of a city home.

The officers were called to the scene on Richet Street just after midnight on Tuesday where they not only found the large cub but the mother and two other cubs nearby.

They drove their truck up close to the porch before one of the members got out, opened the porch and returned to the vehicle. The cub found its way out and rejoined the other three.

RCMP reminded residents to secure garbage and other sources of food, as bears are actively searching for food before winter.
