Carrier Sekani Family Services has achieved the highest level of accreditation an organization can earn from the International Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities.
The B.C. Mininstry of Children and Family Development does not require delegated aboriginal agencies to be accredited but that did not stop the CSFS from working towards the designation voluntarily.
"Accreditation assures CSFS' stakeholders and clients that the organization is dedicated to international levels of accountability and quality improvement across all of our programs and services," CSFS said in a statement issued this week.
Launched in 1990, CSFS provides child welfare, health, and legal services to First Nations persons living in the Prince George, Vanderhoof, and Burns Lake areas, both off and on reserve and now employs over 160 people.
CSFS is the first of B.C.'s delegated aboriginal agencies to earn the accreditation, which was granted in September.
