The family of a snowmobiler that died after being buried in an avalanche north of Prince George last month has received generous financial support from the general public.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Sean McGarry's pregnant wife Nicole and three-year-old son Maverick, and has already surpassed its goal of $55,000 in just a few days.

On Nov. 28, Mackenzie RCMP and area search and rescue crews responded to reports of an avalanche near Powder King and Bijoux Falls where two snowmobilers were caught in an avalanche.

According to the crowdfunding page, McGarry was tragically killed in the avalanche in an area where his friends and family gathered frwquently to explore the outdoors.

"Sean's zest for life was contagious. He had a love for the mountains, travel, friends, and most of all, his family. The long list of his life-long friends is a tribute to the kind of man Sean was. Besides his two biological brothers, his friends were more like family.

"Nikki has now been faced with one of the most difficult things you could ever imagine. Grieving the loss of her soulmate, while caring for their son, and unborn child."
