Prince George entered its annual Crime Stoppers month in January with a winning track record for 2010 with 610 tips received and more than $6.7 million seized in drugs and property.

Statistics for 2010 also show the Crime Stoppers accounted for 18 arrests and 10 rewards totaling $3,225; value of property recovered at $102,750; and value in narcotics recovered totaling $6,664,423.
Since Crime Stoppers' inception in 1991, a total of 479 rewards amount to $151,075 while value of property recovered totals $2,623,827 and value of narcotics recovered is $25,980,202. There have been 8,500 tips received and 1,374 arrests made.
This year Crime Stoppers is introducing a new way to provide information on cell phones with short message service (SMS) that are used for texting messages.
"Simply text your tip to 'CRIMES' [274637] from cellular phones or devices with SMS capability," said Cooper.
**During January, winning entries of the Crimestoppers poster and place-mat contests from Prince George secondary school are being displayed at Pine Centre Mall.
Cooper sends congratulations to winners Kyla Murphy, Grade 11 art and Jordon Caron, Grade 10 art. Posters by Heritage elementary school students are also on display.
**On Jan. 22, Crime Stoppers will be at the Spruce Kings hockey game at the Coliseum with free prizes and a chance to win an Xbox video game system with Kinect interactive attachment.
