City crews started paving parts of Connaught Hill to change the direction of traffic, which will be in effect after the signs go up Tuesday.

A comment from a sharp-eyed resident caused the city to re-work the traffic loop on Connaught Hill.

On Monday, city crews started paving a section of road to help reverse the flow of traffic from the current clockwise orientation.

Last year a resident flagged the route and the city's engineering department agreed it "was not only a sightseeing inconvenience for occupants in the passenger seats of vehicles, but also inconsistent with roundabout and traffic circle movement convention."

Last week staff installed new curbs at the intersection and on Tuesday, city crews will install direction signage, making the change official.

When cars head up the hill, they will turn right instead of left at the intersection.
