Transportation minister Shirley Bond defended highway maintenance crews in the wake of Tuesday's collision on Highway 16 at the Jutland-Jensen Road turnoff that has led to the loss of three lives.
Bond said she's been assured Yellowhead Road and Bridge, which holds the contract for the Fort George Highway District, was out doing its job on the morning of the crash.
"Our contractor certainly had been active on this route in the period preceding the crash," she said Friday. "We do need to be clear there had been plowing activity and winter aggregate application had occurred."
