Police are asking anyone who witnessed a Mon., Jan. 28 collision south of Prince George that claimed the life of a Surrey truck driver to contact them by calling North District RCMP traffic services at 250-649-4004.

The request also applies to anyone who came across the scene after the collision on Highway 97 in the Woodpecker-Hixon area.

Balwinder Singh Gill, 53, died at the scene after the empty tractor trailer unit he was driving south collided with a northbound Super-B unit - a tractor and two trailer units - that had allegedly crossed the centreline.

Two pick-up trucks were then struck, one of them going down a 10 metre embankment, while two other tractor trailers went off the road to avoid the collision, RCMP said at the time. Three other drivers were taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

The Super B was loaded with lumber, and the road's condition at the time was described as slippery with light snow, according to officials.
