A vehicle incident has forced closure of Highway 97 in both directions near 100 Mile House, according to DriveBC.

The incident occurred at Timothy Lake Rd, 22 kilometres north of the community.

"Estimated time of opening not available. Detour not available," DriveBC said in a notice posted shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Cpl. Mike Halskov of B.C. RCMP traffic services said it involved a passenger vehicle and a cyclist who was riding in the travel lanes of the highway.

It appears the cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries, he said.

Also, another vehicle incident closed Highway 97 in both directions and without a detour 34 kilometres south of 150 Mile House, according to DriveBC.

Highway 16, meanwhile, is back to normal following a rollover of a commercial vehicle near McBride this morning.
