Several Northern and Interior highways are to benefit from crack sealing which will improve the safety and reliability of the road for motorists by preventing water from getting below the surface and causing damage.
"This type of work is critical for ensuring that taxpayers get the best
value possible by extending the life of our pavement as long as we can.
Well-maintained roads cost us all less in the long run, and help keep the
travelling public safe," said Shirley Bond, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Liquid asphalt filler is applied in the spring to seal cracks that developed from winter wear and tear and this reduces repair costs over the long term, keeping the surface safe and smooth by helping to reduce potholes.
Sections of highway to be crack-sealed include:
* Highway 16 West: Bednesti to Chilako Bridge
* Highway 16 East: Yellowhead Bridge to east of Bowron Bridge and Laing
Road to Red Pass Summit
* Highway 39: Junction with 97N to Mackenzie
* Highway 97: North Kelly to Mackenzie Junction
