Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Jubilee Lodge, after tests confirmed cases in staff and residents.

As of Monday morning, one staff member and two residents had tested positive for COVID-19, Northern Health spokesperson Eryn Collins said. However, that number could grow as proactive testing and contact tracing is underway.

"Northern Health is proactively testing residents to identify anyone who may have been infected, and taking additional steps to protect the health of all Jubilee Lodge staff and residents..." a statement issued by Northern Health said.

The 66-bed, long-term care facility is attached to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. and is operated by Northern Health.

Additional safety measures in place include increased screening for all staff and residents, enhanced cleaning and infection control measures, restricting staff and resident movement in the facility and suspending all social visits to the site.

Essential visits will continue, with COVID-19 safety measures in place, Collins said.
