COVID deaths rise by two in Northern Health

Deaths push toll to 283 in region

The COVID-19 pandemic claimed the lives of two people in Northern Health over the weekend, according to B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

The deaths raise the count since the pandemic began to 283 in the region.

Changes on other fronts were marginal.

As of Monday, active cases stood at 1,566, a decline of 15 from Friday. Hospitalizations held steady at 33 and the number in critical care rose by one to 12.

At 201, Saturday marked the 12th day this month in which more than 200 new cases were reported. January 12 remained the day with the largest number at 299.

For Sunday, 91 were reported.

Adjusted for age, there were 148.8 hospitalizations per 100,000 people in B.C. over two weeks ending January 20, with unvaccinated people accounting for 81.7, partially vaccinated for 48.4 and full vaccinated for 18.7, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
