Following today’s (March 16) recommendations from the provincial health officer to cancel all gatherings greater than 50 people, the City of Prince George says it's now closing several civic facilities.

These closures, which will help reduce the potential spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), include:

  • All arenas
    •  CN Centre, Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, Elkscentre, and the Kin Centres
  • All pools
    • Prince George Aquatic Centre and Four Seasons Leisure Pool
  • Prince George Conference and Civic Centre

The closure will take effect at 5 p.m. today (March 16) and are set to be closed until further notice.

In addition to the civic facilities identified, Tourism Prince George is announcing that the Visitor Information Centre on First Avenue is closed and will be re-evaluated on March 30.

Visitor information will continue to be available online.

The city says it's also activating its Emergency Operations Centre in order to manage the ongoing delivery of civic operations and services in a coordinated way.

PrinceGeorgeMatters will continue to update a running list of postponements and cancellations in Prince George as they progress.
