The next chapter in the Coun. Brian Skakun's legal battle opens this summer.
A B.C. Supreme Court Justice will hear on June 18 and 19 in Prince George a request to overturn a provincial court decision to fine him $750 for violating B.C.'s protection of privacy legislation on June 18 and 19 in Prince George, Skakun said Monday.
"I'm looking forward to finally putting this before a judge," Skakun said. "We have a quite strong case and we'll see what the judge has to say, but it's good just to get this process going so we can finally get it over with."
In May 2011, Provincial Court Judge Ken Ball found Skakun guilty of a leaking confidential personnel documents to CBC Radio in Prince George and in June 2011, Skakun's lawyer, Jon Duncan, filed a notice of appeal.
In October, council decided against censuring Skakun but that did not stop him for pursuing the appeal, maintaining the case has implications for elected officials across the country.
