Police are on the lookout for three men tied to an allegation of attempting to pass $100 bills.
A report was received Friday from a complainant who said they tried to use funny money to pay for an item listed for sale in a classified ad.
The three men were described as in their 30's, one Caucasian, one First Nations and the third Asian with glasses.
"The three departed in a newer red Dodge Caravan minivan. Indication is that the suspects had many more counterfeit bills," said Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass, who added there have been several other reports of counterfeit bills circulating in Prince George in December.
"Victims included delivery drivers, financial institutions and retail stores," Douglass said.
Police are urging the public to beware of this recent trend and ask that everyone take a moment to
examine all currency when accepting cash.
