Theatre North West steps into a mystery with The Clockmaker.
This is the third production during the professional theatre company's 2011/12 season and it detours from the comedy beat to venture into part love story, part mystery, thriller and jigsaw puzzle that keeps the audience guessing right until the very end.
Humble clockmaker, Heinrich Mann is surrounded in mystery when he is accused of some wrong doing. Frieda, a soft-spoken young woman, then finds her way into his shop bringing in a shattered cuckoo clock and leaving with Heinrich's heart.
The Clockmacker, by Stephen Massicotte, was named best play of the 2010/11 season in the inaugural Toronto Theatre Critics' Awards and also won Outstanding New Play at the 2009 Betty Mitchell Awards.
Theatre North West presents The Clockmaker at the Parkhill Centre from Feb. 9 to 26. Tickets are at Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue or by phone 250-614-0039.
