There are on 10 days left to get involved in the Spruce Kings largest annual fundraising effort.
The BCHL club will draw for its 32nd annual Show Home Lottery on May 15 and there are still about 850 $100 tickets up for grabs. And with Mothers' Day around the corner, what better way to show your appreciation than the chance to win a house.
This year's home is more than 1,700 square feet in the Aberdeen Glen Golf Course and Estates subdivision, valued at more than $491,000.
Located at 2626 Links Dr., the house comes with five major appliances from Northern Hardware and a variety of extras donated by local businesses.
The lottery is important because it funds about 80 per cent of the team's operating budget, explained business and marketing manager Lu Verticchio.
"By being successful, by having a great fan base and great business support and selling out the show home that allows us to have the lowest ticket prices in the BCHL."
The hockey club is a non-profit community-owned organization, which means its dependent on its spectators and commercial sponsors.
"So it's really critical that we sell it out," Verticchio said. "For example, if there's 800 tickets left, that's $80,000."
Only 8,500 tickets were made available for this year's lottery and are still available at the show home, Canadian Tire, Pine Centre Mall, Northern Hardware, Spruceland News, Hart Drugs, Central Builders and from the Spruce Kings office.
The show home - which also comes with a Home Alive Automation and Security System from Curtis Elite - is open for viewing between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days per week until the tickets are sold out.
