City of Prince George Coun. Shari Green is expected to announce her intention to run for mayor at 1:30 p.m. today at JJ Springer and Company furniture store in downtown P.G.

Green has been on council for one term and has distinguished herself on a few occasions in that time.

She put forward a motion for council to reconsider a tax rate that would've put an exceptional burden on the light industrial base. Her recommendation resulted in council spreading the burden out to the various taxation sources.

She also unsuccessfully fought to have a new arena built instead of renovating the Kin 1 Centre.

And she spoke out about Coun. Brian Skakun's breaching of the Privacy Act when he disclosed an in-camera document to media. She called for a stronger censure against Skakun and supports Privacy Act regulation with more teeth.
