Fans of junior A hockey may soon be able to enjoy a senior beverage with their Spruce Kings games.

On Monday night, city council will decide whether to add the general seating area at the Coliseum to its list of civic spaces with liquor licences.

The hockey club approached the city about introducing alcohol service in the stands.

According to a staff report, the Spruce Kings are the only BC Hockey League team that doesn't sell booze at their games.

"Providing for alcohol service at Spruce Kings games would meet customer demand and at the same time, provide another source of revenue to assist with team expenses," the report said.

It also noted that unauthorized alcohol consumption has not previously been an issue at Spruce Kings games.
