City council has set this year's property tax rates.
Homeowners will be paying a rate of $8.91 per $1,000 of assessed value for residential dwellings of all types.
This is decrease from last year's rate of $9.10 per $1,000 of value.
But for average homeowners, this will be countered by a hike in the total assessed value of their properties.
For those owning a single family detached home, the average value is $286,000 according to Assessment B.C. which translates in to a $2,245 bill. In 2016, the average was $268,000, working out to $2,157.
Of that $8.91, $6.71 goes to general municipal, 55 cents to snow control, 39 cents to road rehabilitation and 20 cents to the general infrastructure reinvestment fund. A further $1.06 goes to the Fraser-Fort George Regional District.
In February, council approved a budget with a $100-million levy, working out to a $3.9-million increase from the year before.
