Prince George will have its Pride Walk.
A motion before city council Monday passed unanimously for the "low cost" option.
With little discussion on the matter, city council approved a $3,000 rainbow-coloured crossing. Another option, at double the cost, was in the report for council, but not considered.
"I think it is important for us to recognize this community," said Brian Skakun, before asking why these cross walks cost so much more.
Consultants recommended cold plastic because it offers multiple colours, unlike roadway marking paint, council heard.
"The labour component, the material component and the drying time component have all added to the costs obviously a large amount more than a regular crosswalk," said Dave Dyer, city manager of engineering and public works.
In its report staff recommended two locations, both to cross George Street, either near the Cenotaph or slightly further south, crossing to the old Enterprise site. These were not discussed at the meeting.
