Prince George Cougars captain Ethan Samson has signed an entry-level contract with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.

Samson, 19, has collected 27 points (11G-16A), 8 power-play goals, and 93 shots in 28 games this season.

“It’s just amazing. It has been a crazy couple of days and I’m so happy it’s happened,” said Samson after putting pen to paper.

The 6’3, 183-pound native of Delta collected two goals and one assist in the 10-6 win over the Kamloops Blazers on New Year’s Eve.

“He’s just worked, worked, and worked and got better every day. In his draft year, he was never on central scouting, he was under the radar, and he kept improving,” said Cougars GM and head coach Mark Lamb. “He has earned everything he’s got, and it is so great to see him sign with Philadelphia.”

Samson was selected by the Flyers in the sixth round (17th overall) of the 2021 NHL draft.

The Cougars are back in action Friday and Saturday at CN Centre when they host the Everett Silvertips.
