The city's core services review will be launched tonight with a public meeting at city hall.

The event is set for a 7 p.m. start in the council chambers and Mayor Shari Green and representatives from KPMG, contracted to conduct the review, will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the project.

In addition, KPMG will describe when and how members of the public can participate in the process. The event will also be webcast on the City's website at www.princegeorge.ca.

A core service review is typically conducted by an independent consultant to examine the services provided by government and offer recommendations concerning programs and services, as well as suggest opportunities for reducing expenses, increasing revenue and improving efficiency.

KPMG was awarded a $313,720 contract to carry out the review, which is scheduled to be completed by late October.
