A contract worth $313,720 was signed April 16 by accounting firm KPMG, Mayor Shari Green told council members on Monday night.

Although still below the $350,000 cap council had established, that's still up from a $284,895 deal approved by city council on March 26 and the new total does not include

administration costs.

The extra money will largely go towards an expanded public

consultation process.

The price also does not include HST but the city will receive a refund, staff confirmed, so the total contract will remain under $350,000.

KPMP was the sole bidder on the contract to review the city's operations, efficiency and

revenue.

Council's approval in March came with a caveat requiring three outstanding issues be resolved prior to signing of the agreement.

They included well-defined interim reports to the committee, "significantly improved and expanded" stakeholder consultation, and negotiation on the five per cent administration fee and auditing of city information.

The deadline for a final report is now late October, about a month later than initially anticipated.

A series of interim reports will be provided to council, city manager Derek Bates confirmed.
