An RCMP cruiser ended up in a collision with a small car at the intersection of Highways 16 and 97 Saturday night, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said.

An RCMP cruiser ended up in a collision with a small car at the intersection of Highways 16 and 97 Saturday night, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said.

The officer driving the car was responding to a call and thought the intersection was clear when the accident occurred shortly before 8 p.m., Douglass said.

However, a witness told The Citizen it appeared the sirens were activated a few seconds after the collision happened.

According to the witness, the RCMP cruiser was turning into a northbound lane on Highway 97 from Highway 16 when it hit the car head on and both cars ended up pointing northwards.

No injuries were reported and police are investigating the incident, Douglass said.
