WorkSafeBC has fined Mission-based contractor $8,443.08 after a worker sustained serious injuries whole working on a bridge deck near Mackenzie.
Platinum Stone Contracting Ltd. was issued the fine in late February, according to a posting on the WorkSafeBC website.
A worker was installing planking on the bridge deck and fell to the rocky creek bed 5.5 m (18 ft.) below, according to the posting.
"WorkSafeBC investigated the incident and found that no acceptable method of fall protection had been in place on the bridge deck," the agency said. "The firm's failure to ensure that fall protection was in place was a high-risk violation."
