Three-quarters into the year and permits for $96.4 million worth of construction have been taken out at city hall, according to a report issued this week.
That's slightly less than the $98.8 million reached by the same point last year, but remains well ahead of the $65 million mark by the end of September 2011.
Both figures are below peaks of $123 million reached nine months into 2010, when permits for $47 million worth of work were taken out for the B.C. Cancer Agency for the North and $14 million for the College of New Caledonia technical centre, and $103 million in 2007, before the recession struck.
Looking strictly at September, 62 permits for $5 million were issued, led by $1.5 million for five new single-family homes.
Other significant projects were a foundation for a Shoppers Drug Mart at 6753 Hart Hwy., $1.5 million; a duplex at 2114-2110 Redwood St., $371,460; improvements to RHB Schmitz de Grace chartered accountants at 556 North Nechako Rd., $200,000; and a foundation for an addition to the Fastenal industrial supply outlet at 3803 Hart Highway, $200,000.
During the same month last year, 66 permits for $6.1 million were issued and in 2011, it was 72 permits for $10.2 million.
